McDonald's key challenges and oppurtunities

As we know McDonalds is a million dollar business, it is the largest food-service company in the world. It is operating more than 31,00 restaurants in over 119 countries. With every business comes a challenge. The main key challenge that McDonalds faces is health issues. In the video we learn that McDonalds is the only company that adapts to local culture. While listening to their customers and providing good services, McDonalds is developing more and more restaurants.
Twenty six million people a day go to McDonalds, which tells you that their business is doing tremendously well. As mentioned in the video McDonalds is being criticized for the amount of calories per item. The biggest challenge for McDonalds is being criticized for their food and how it has caused customers to be overweight. Although there have been lawsuits claiming its food has caused customers to be overweight, McDonalds says that it is the customers choice what to eat not theirs. McDonalds has added healthier alternatives to its menu.
With reasonable prices and delicious food ready for you in five minutes, how can you say no to McDonalds? There are many opportunities for McDonalds to grow even more, healthier choices like salads, yogurts, and snack wraps have been added to their menu. Recently McDonalds announced that they have switched to transfat- free cooking oil for its fries. McDonald’s is providing healthier options to their menu in order to reduce this key problem of obesity. Chef Dan states in the video” McDonalds is fun and that people want fun food." Chef Dan is trying to add more spices and ingredients in order to catapult this restuarunt to the next level. McDonalds is a wide world business and is continuing to provide more selections in order to please their customers.
McDonalds adapts to other cultures and preferences. For example, in the book it states that McDonalds set up its first franchises in Hong Kong in 1975, McDonald's altered the breakfast menu after realizing customers there liked burgers for breakfast, and chicken or fish for the rest of the day. McDonalds is willing to listen to their customers and wants to enhance their menu so the customers have more choices, than just a burger and fries. Despite these challenges McDonalds remains the world's top restaurant chain, serving more than 47 million global customers a day.

I like how you stated that "is the customers choice what to eat not theirs [McDonald's]. I think that is important to mention especially when people are trying to sue McDonald's regarded the food's nutritional facts, which is one of their main challenges. I also like how you added that in order to overcome that problem McDonald's is trying to make healthier options for their customers like snack wraps and yogurts. In order for McDonald's to grow their clientele it is important to reach different types of people. If they did not expand their menu I think more people could be willing to sue the company for their obesity. I also like how you incorporated McDonald's international success like in Hong Kong and how they need to adapt their menu to increase customer ratings. It is important for a company to learn about other cultures if they are trying to grow as a franchise. Also, your fact that 47 million people go to McDonald's a day is a testament to their success as both a national and international company.
