Alley and I have similar presentations because we both have a business that our family runs. Her Mom, Andree Allaire, runs a gym and my Dad, Bill Stacy, runs a tile business. My dad’s business is also a sole proprietor mean that they are both their own bosses and have no one higher than them. Being their own bosses they don’t have to ask someone else if their idea is good or not. They make all the decisions for the company weather the workers like it or not. They both get all the credit to how far the company goes and how good the services are. Alley mentions that they leave their business to someone but I highly doubt my dad will leave the business to me, and I am okay with that. Both of them are focused on their customers and how to satisfy their needs before everyone else’s and I believe that’s a good motto to go by when running a business. Both of the business started off by the help of family and friends and really grew and took off to be a great business that is still up and running today. Even though the company is different in what they supply and what their about, they have the same background of loving what they use to do prior to opening their business. When creating a business, I believe you need to love what the company is all about and know the background or else it will fail. Both our parents were so determined to open up their own business after a crisis and worked hard to do what they wanted to do their whole life. Both of our parents started their business in the economy crisis and still fought through the hard ships and succeeded in making a well-known business. They both put in the long hard hours into their company and knew that in the end it would all work out. Failure was always in the picture but she kept a great mind set and pushed herself hard. My dad also allows me to work at best tile when he really needs the help. We are both proud of what our parents have done and want to follow in their footsteps.

After reading and looking through Alley’s PowerPoint I thought she did an amazing job. She included so many nice pictures of her and her mom, and the rest of her family. Her mother Andree Allaire and my uncle, Michael White, both do have some similarities. First off they both run a very good business and it seems as if they are both doing well. They are also both family run businesses. They also have a lot of background on how to run and own a business. I noticed that between Alleys mother and my Uncle they did have some of the same difficult challenges. The economy was definitely one of them. You are definitely taking a lot of risk for starting up your own small business in a terrible economy but they both seem to look past that and just go after for what their dreams are and accomplish them. They also have in common that they started their own small business on their own, with no back up plans. When my uncle started his business “Creative Cabinets” he didn’t have any back up plans because he believe that he could do it all by himself. That’s the kind of attitude that you need to have to own and run a small business by yourself. Alley also mentioned in her PowerPoint that her mother hired her and her brothers for employees. To me, that is a great idea because owning your own business is a lot of work with a lot of hours a day and can take you away from downtime with your family so I think it’s a great way to bond and to have everyone working together. My uncle has his son working for him also. He plans on handing down the business to my cousin one day when he feels that he needs to retire from it. Alley also mentioned that as well, that hopefully someday her mother will hand over the business to her so it can stay a family run business. My uncle and Alley’s mother both had the same advice for anyone who is trying to start a business on their own someday. You need to make sure that you work in a field or career that you love and you wouldn’t just go to work for the money. You want to be happy with what you are doing for the rest of your life. Over all, I was very inspired from reading about how Alleys mother, Andree Alliare, got started and how she overcame a lot of challenges along the way.
