Give. Live. Love.

This commercial for Coca-Cola is very unique, yet iconic. Every Christmas, we wait to see that bearded Santa Clause drinking an ice cold Coke. After seeing these commercials, we begin to associate certain things with certain products; this is exactly what companies want. They want us to make a connection between something in our everyday lives and their product. In this commercial we see a family of polar bears who are woken up by rowdy penguins partying on the other side of a snow covered hill. The polar bears are confused as to what is going on, and the young bear cub slips and slides down the hill, right in front of the penguins. An awkward moment takes over, but is soon broken by a baby penguin carrying a Coca-Cola. The pup gives the cub the Coke and the partying continues with both the bears and the penguins. The commercial then zooms out to the song “Christmas Come This Time Each Year” and “Give. Live. Love.” is written next to the Coca-Cola logo. Coke wants to promote love during the holidays while promoting their product. Listen to the public. “Public relations starts with good marketing research to evaluate public attitudes.” Pp. 441. Our book explains that public relation starts with good understanding of your market. Coke takes the holidays into consideration and makes an advertisement that appeals to the emotional aspect of the holidays.
